Cindy N’Guyen, an executive with a French bank in Cambodia and a regular attendee at Topaz menu tastings, enjoyed a short stay in the City Grande room at Arunreas and shares her impressions with us.
What was your first impression of Arunreas ?
As soon as I arrived, I was struck by the spacious and welcoming lobby. The decor is beautiful, with traditional sculptures and colorful paintings. The paintings are reminiscent of traditional art, but the colors used, and the overall aesthetic give them a more modern feel.
What do you think of the decor and the location in general?
The Arunreas Hotel is tastefully and elegantly decorated. The sculptures and artwork in the common areas and rooms add a touch of sophistication. However, although the staff are professional and courteous, they lack a certain warmth. Their language can sometimes seem formulaic and overly rehearsed. It’s just a detail.
Tell us about the comfort of the rooms
The rooms are very spacious and well-equipped. The shower and bath are large and attractive, with high quality materials. The bedding is very comfortable, and the linen is clean. The decoration and sculptures in the room are sublime.
The room is well suited for business travelers: the Wi-Fi connection works perfectly, allowing you to work without any problems. There is also a large desk, which is a comfortable place to work.
What do you think of the services provided?
The hotel offers a wide range of quality services. The Khema Restaurant is a real asset. It offers guests excellent food with a varied menu and tasty dishes.
Tell us about the reception by the staff
The staff are welcoming and professional, but, as I said, a more relaxed approach would be appreciated to make the experience more authentic and friendly.
Your impressions of dinner, breakfast, choice, atmosphere and value for money
Dinner
- A warm welcome: The restaurant staff are friendly, dynamic and ready to give you all the information you need
- Charcuterie platter: generous, with very good quality charcuterie
- White wine: excellent
- Salmon gravlax: very good, although a little too salty
- Onion soup: generous, with classic flavors. The soup is very good, but the presentation could be improved
- Fillet of beef: a perfect dish. The meat is very tender and cooked to perfection, accompanied by crunchy, melt-in-the-mouth vegetables. It’s a 10/10.
- Sea bream: The fish is very well cooked; I just would have liked a little bigger quantity of condiments.
Breakfast
- The ‘free flow’ concept is brilliant, with high quality products
- The service is impeccable
- The dishes served and the buffet are excellent
- Overall, breakfast is perfect
